MORE ABOUT ME

Born and raised in Nice, France, I was always fascinated by the English language, even though it was not my strongest subject in school, and dreamed of someday coming to "America."

Once that dream was realized and I learned to speak English, I wasn't satisfied. I wanted to master the language. And I wanted to write. Not in French as I had once hoped to do, but in English. I wanted to write the kind of stories I loved to read-- in those days it was mostly mysteries--and of course, it was essential that I sound like an American.

Needless to say, the process took years. It wasn't easy, but thanks to some wonderful people who believed in me, I never lost sight of my dream.

Because at the time I was married to an American serviceman, I began my writing career as a reporter abroad; but it wasn't until I was permanently back in this country that I began to think seriously about writing more than "just the facts."

My work in a New Jersey theater years later, led me to write my first contemporary novel, CANNES, which was immediately bought by Penguin USA and published in June 1990 under the Onyx imprint.

SCENT OF A KILLER is my fourteenth novel. I'm presently working on a new suspense thriller set in the nation's capital.

My work day is pretty much like anyone else's, except when the deadline approaches. At that time, I turn into a hermit. I don't go out, I don't see my friends, I don't answer the phone. All I do is write, rewrite and occasionally, talk to myself. I'll spare you the details of those one-sided conversations. It ain't always pretty... Yet, no matter how demanding this schedule is, or how lonely it gets at times, I still love what I do and wouldn't dream of doing anything else.

So, do I ever relax, you ask. Yes, I do manage to squeeze in a little fun time every now and then. I read, though not as much as I'd like. I watch my favorite soap (The Young & The Restless). I cook, and I entertain.

Besides France and the U.S., I have lived in Spain, Germany, Morocco, California, Louisiana and Florida. Now a resident of New Jersey, I continue to travel extensively for research and pleasure. I'm married again, to a wonderful, supportive, and dare I say it, very romantic husband.
