Sunday was a service unavailable day..., not good.
On the subject of old TV series that keep coming back, i choose SPACE 1999.
The year was 1976, when in October the 16th started what would become an obsession for me. I was like..., 10 years old, the portuguese TV (RTP) was broadcasting in glorious B&W, and SPACE 1999 was..., well, it just was! Hours were spent on the controls of an Eagle (a bunch of stones and branches) and LEGO was a wonderful tool for building Eagle and Stun Guns models, as well as Comlocks. For Christmas 2003 i got from my Bro the box (first season), with six DVDs and 24 episodes. Amazing!  Now, looking back..., it's such a sweet feeling.

After staring at the screen for five minutes, i decided to start, but it's not a good start: i'm..., bored! I'll have to go PT from here.
Ok, vamos l! Comeou o Vero, e naturalmente a ventania; Lagos, the windy city. Nortada, como habitualmente referida. Tem uma vantagem: fica bem mais fresco ( p'ra mim a escrever sobre o tempo).
Oooook, avanando..., como me sentia aborrecido, aluguei um server de CS:CZ, apenas por um ms, s para ver como a coisa; estou a tentar popularizar a modalidade de Speed-Strike, mas no est fcil; por outro lado, a verso Condition Zero do CS a menos jogada (ver stats), o que no ajuda. Gerir remotamente o servidor revelou-se bastante fcil, o servio est bem montado, e funciona; at fiz o site da ordem, http://lgs.gameqwest.net/, aproveitando um layout desenhado para um torneio de CS 1.5 realizado no ano passado. Curiosamente, e caso ainda no tenham visto as stats, vejam, a verso de CS mais jogada de longe ainda a 1.6; tambm curioso verificar que a verso CZ, apesar de ser a mal-amada na histria do CS, tem uma cota apenas 50% inferior do CS:Source. Tambm tenho posto a correr um servidor de CS 1.6, a partir do porttil e para a net, com os mesmos mapas, e tem entrado pessoal!!!
Now you know why the game's name is Half-Life..., because it takes at least half your life..., well, it isn't, it's a physics thing, but you get the idea.

Work pilled up. Addiction to CS on a hole new level (i'll get back to this..., or maybe not!).
I felt rather sad with the death of prominent portuguese figures: Vasco Gonalves, Eugnio de Andrade, lvaro Cunhal.
Wonder: the Alice in Wonderland book that my bro offered to I., and to all of us in the house. It's one of those books that when open, pops up paper sculptures (in this case, that's how it must be named); it's amazing; i saw a little japanese video, weeks ago, showing that book and my chin dropped to my knees; never mentioned it to anybody, but still..., the Universe works in misterious ways!
The fascist portuguese government is trying to take away the teachers right to strike. Yes, i wrote FASCIST, and strike, so sue me, i don't give a f*ck.

I complain too much! So, i'm not the best CS player, and that's a fact. But it bugs me...!
Cabovisao (my ISP, cable TV and phone provider) increased my internet connection to 1Mbps, no charge! This was supposed to happen on the first of July, but it's already active! Nice!!!! Yes, it's ONLY 1Mbps, but it's much better than 256Kbps. The traffic limit was also increased. Cool.

Now, are those guys cheating? I don't know! Maybe they are, maybe they aren't, that's not the point. The point is that, that's what you get when playing CS:Source, most of the kills are HSs, and are mostly obtained by the same players. Cheaters? Maybe, or maybe not. Everybody complains (?) that it's so easy to get a HS. Is it? How? Maybe it is, but the fact is that i can't get HSs just like that. The game is screwed up? It is, with or without cheaters!!!!
Today (yesterday by USA time) there was a small update by Steam on Half-Life1 and CS:Condition Zero and that's unusual. So, i joined a CS:CZ server just to check; played for half an hour, and got a great score (unusual)!!! This ALWAYS happens after a Steam update, and why, you might ask? Everyone is expecting (or many are fearing) the update on VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) to VAC2, and when there's an update..., well, you get the point. Ok, enough said about CS, for now!
Today ended the 12th grade class; it's always a mixed feeling; relief, but fortunately also that feeling of saudade. They are a good bunch of young boys, maybe a bit lazy, most of them, but very nice kids. And one of the boys had a little but refreshing surprise: Counter-Strike 2D(here we go again)! We had some fun!
Oh, and the tag board is gone; always trying to popup windows, and with the comments from Haloscan working(?), i find it expendable.

I enjoyed so much making that (little) comparision and CS POV analysis, that i posted on the Steam Forum, late last night (or really early today). And i'm glad i did it. Got a great feedback, with 941 views and 52 replies, in less than 24 hours, with a five stars rating. And that's as good as it gets!
I'm very disgusted with CS:Source, and CS:CZ is reduced to half a dozen national servers, with a bunch of suspicious players, so i went back to play CS 1.6. And it felt quite good, for ten minutes or so (click pic for full version):
 
Then a mofo came along that immediatly cried CHEATER. When he got 4 HS in a row with a scout while jumping up and down and his teammates started to complain, i left.
I really should go back to single player games and leave all this..., oh, wait, already tried..., didn't work.
Today it was hot, really HOT. Being in a classroom with 15 PCs, 18 students, and the sun burning through the windows didn't help at all.

A spider started to build her pod/nest(?) over the bed..., i slayed the bitch! Enough said!

Now, i'm going to put in pictures one of the big issues with CS:Source: the POV, or should i write, the screwed up POV! If you're not a CS addicted player, this may not be very appealing. Ok, read it, it doesn't hurt. Let me make clear that none of the players in the screenshots is jumping or crouching, they are standing still. I took the screenshots myself, on the two PCs here at home, so, trust me.
The page may be a bit slow to load - the screenshots are NOT edited, and have the original size - but be patient (well, it doesn't take that long to load, i'm just being melodramatic). Enough said, follow this link, if you please.
This issue as been talked about over and over on the Steam forums, and someone described this exact situation, but failed to present the screenshots; i got curious..., and did it.

The expresso machine broke up! It was a Krups, and a very nice one. But, and keeping in mind the seven years colapse theory, such an event was predictable. So, i bought a new one, quite good as well.
I left the wasps to live another day (please read: i've been afraid to do anything about it).
The weather is hot as hell..., and so is my PC. It generates a hot air draft, wich is very disturbing, and with all the fans (5) rotating like mad, it sounds like a vacuum cleaner.
RFC: what about www.do-less.net ? Don't click it, it doesn't exist. Just asking for opinions.

Ok, let's make it clear: i like guns in PC games and movies, not in real life (at least not real guns).
I don't believe in guns being free to own and so on..., but guns are sexy little bitches, aren't they?
The gamming scene is frustrating; CS:Source has in visual appeal what it lacks in gameplay. Half the people playing complain about cheaters; the other half complain about ridiculous hitboxes and hillarious headshots/kills ratios. I complain about both!
I'm trying tou figure out how to nail the wasps, and destroy the nests. I have a kind of fobia with (big) humming flying insects...! The nests are high enough to eliminate the possibility of using any kind of bug spray..., my bet is going on water... help, anyone?

Taking in consideration the fact that i'm not able to do serious work, i lurked around entries in this blog from past years, only to find out that this time of year is always critical. One thing is for sure, it's getting worse.
It's true, i do recognize the weapons; i'm watching Die Hard (?) and already identified all the MGs and SMGs..., geeze.
The gaming scene also starts to go to waste around this time of year..., i wonder why?

Two nests, above the garage door, and a third one on the making. This is becoming a kind of intergalactic war..., ants, spiders, and wasps. And i'm leaving behind quite a lot of other species..., believe me!
I hope to FTP all this soon..., i hope.
