GenomeCities was founded on the principles of knowledge and expression. We began as a circle of academics who muddled about in the murky waters of genetic sciences, ethics and philosophy. We wanted to start a community where ideas about the future of the species could be shared and debated, examined and mulled over from all angles. And soon enough, GC was born.
This is our mission, to spread the word that the Age of the Genome is upon us, and for better or worse, our minds ought to be open to the possibilities as well as the global consequences.

GenomeCities offers people with an interest in genetics - as a researcher, dabbler, doctor, patient or pessimist - the chance to speak their mind on the subject by offering web space for their rhetoric, chat space for their social meanderings and bulletin boards for their (oft-times heated) debates. We offer no judgement - nor endorsements - for the views expressed by our members. We simply expect that people be civil with each other.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide homes to everyone seeking membership and at this time, we're limiting enrollment to invitees only. Current members will not be affected by this (except to notice a decrease in neighborly expansion). Perhaps a grant or goodwill from some aging philanthropist might open the gates for more members...
