That wonderful time of the year is so full of distractions, I forgot to update my website, as I do every year at this time. Fortunately, a fan wrote to say that my introduction letter was outdated, so here I am. As I write this, I’m getting ready to leave for a week at the shore where I intend to do nothing but sleep late, soak up the sun, and watch out for sharks, which I’m told are plentiful this year. I even promised myself not to take my work along. No laptop, no pages to edit, no research to do, not even a bookmark to remind me of what I do for a living. Instead, I’ll do what everyone else does at the beach-stock up on a few good books and read, read, read. For those of you who have been asking, my next suspense novel, The Search, will be out in January 2005. I’ll tell you more about it in my next update letter in November. In the storyline, one of the clues to the mystery is a gorgeous opal necklace. So I thought it would be fun to have a drawing and offer an opal necklace to the winner. This stone is not nearly as big as the one in the book, but it’s an opal and it’s real. So is the antique silver chain. There is nothing to buy. To enter, simply e-mail your name and address (no P.O. box, please) to: Chrisheg@aol.com The drawing will be held on January 15, 2005 and the winner will be notified either by e-mail or snail mail. A photograph of the necklace will appear on my website in the fall. Until then, have a terrific summer. Best to all, As always, I welcome your comments, so don’t hesitate to drop me a line at Chrisheg@aol.com In Stores January 2004 SCENT OF A KILLER Mira Books, January 2004 ISBN 0-7783-2005-7 Order Amazon Determined to solve the murder of a man she once loved, Jenna Mayerson enters a dangerous criminal underworld to find the SCENT OF A KILLER. With the police convinced the attorney's death was a random act of violence, Jenna seeks the help of Adam's former best friend, private investigator Frank Renaldi. When an attempt on Jenna's life sends her into hiding, Frank's only hope of keeping her alive is to stay one step ahead of a killer who will stop at nothing to get what he wants.
