Blood Drag

Blood Drag Pics

Perissa accommodation Blood Drag , one of my favorite Florida shows! I began my trek to West Palm Beach late Friday evening traveling with about five of my good friends from Aftermath in Ft.Lauderdale, FL. Of course, no trip is a good trip without the classic highway encounter with a semi-truck. And fortunately, that encounter with the semi-truck was made by yours truly. I guess with all this construction going on with the Florida Turnpike, some people get a little scared to enter the roadway at a "highway speed." So, I'll make this one short. This lovely old lady in a nice new Lexus decides that she wants to enter the two-lane under-construction roadway at a mere 30MPH. Now, enter 35 ton semi-truck: Wait, lets add more excitement! Lady driven Lexus going 30MPH entering two-lane under-construction highway with onramp merging over. Need more? How about semi-truck in right hand lane traveling at about 60 MPH? Now, I had a choice, either get squashed because there is no room to move, due to the cement barriers around the lanes, or, I could floor it and pass this lady and let her deal with the truck. Sounds good? Great, so I did… one problem. Lady decides to get over in front of me, still pacing at a mind-blowing 30MPH. I'm starting to sweat now. With all of my friends to wit, I almost had a PETERBUILT logo embossed permanently into my tailgate. Luckily, the truck saw what was going on and saved my day. Needless to say, I passed the lady-driven Lexus with a good ole-fashioned "have a nice day" finger gesture.

Ahhh… OK…now back to the show. I pulled into the Days Inn hotel on Friday nite, when I met with Jay, our photgrapher for Layinbody.com. I can remember Jay's first words to me… It went something like "Drag the truck faggot" with a bullhorn in hand. After I backed in and set the body of my Chevy down over the 22s, I began the typical guy talk about whats here at the show and what's going on in everyone's lives. We had the typical Palm Beach Sheriffs Office raid, which included several people being detained for open-container violations and other fun stuff. After the raid was all said and done, everyone nestled back into their beds for the next days' events, well, at least I did. Haha…

Now, unfortunately, I could only attend Saturday for Blood Drag because I was Georgia bound that nite. I guess this was a bad day to pick. The show was looking good until the rain clouds came in. I managed to squeeze in a good amount of pics before the real tides came rollin in. I did get the chance to mingle a little with some of the club members from Relaxed Atmosphere, Acrophobia, NC, and my Aftermath buddies as well. I also got to meet with Kristie and Laura from Gulf Breeze Customs who let Layinbody.com staff shoot a few photos on some rides.

The rain had came down so bad, that Eddie Cebreco, the main dude in charge of Blood Drag, decided to allow for drive-thru judging, thus, resolving the judging issues for the next day. As the cars started lining up and the rain came down harder, we decided to venture back to the hotel for the nites' festivities.

From what I was told, there was some mean dragging going on down Okeechobee Road that nite. I of course, was at Chili's stuffing my face full of food getting prepared for my 9 hour drive to Georgia. As I came back to the hotel, I remember tons of people lining the parking lot of our hotel. The Palm Beach Sheriffs Office told us draggers that we cant drag on a public road, so us being the smart draggers we are, decided to drag down the parking lot of our hotel! Jordan from Aftermath did a CRAZY burnout nearly 500ft long down the length of the parking lot with his 2000 Ford F150. I guess some people don't need 20" tires to last very long. There were definetly sparks shootin and parts flyin that nite. Even the Palm Beach Sheriffs drove through to watch the show, and even left a few of the Palm Beach Firefighters behind to watch the festivities. Now, that's some Florida dedication for ya!

All in all, Blood Drag this year was a great turnout. I hear that Sunday was even better with the kickass weather they had. I, on the other hand, opted to freeze my you know what off with 29-degree weather, not good for a Florida native. We hope to see everyone out at next years' Blood Drag Show. Should you need information on the show, visit: www.BloodDragShow.com. Tell them LayinBody.com sent ya! Until next time… Keep the sparks shootin!
